EPCOT 30TH: A Photo Tour of the Past [Part 1]
As we approach EPCOT's 30th Anniversary we take a moment to look back on the early days of EPCOT Center through lots of old photos. We share photos taken by guests and photos taken by cast members working at EPCOT Center in the early years. These have never been posted online until now!

Projection guys. Remember, early EPCOT Center had many many projectors.
Communicore costumes.
WDW Fan Boy Brett is seen here sporting some nice 80s fashion. Tall socks and short shorts!
Ahh the old fountain.
Fountain with the beautiful spires and beautiful blue subway tile.
More socks.

Universe of Energy.
A band with a backdrop. Horizons when Horizons still existed.
We've made our way to only a small portion of EPCOT Center. In the next post we make our way around the park a little more to see what fun edutainment and excellent design we come across.

Really nice photos! They bring back a lot of memories if how Epcot used to feel as you walked around. I wish I had more photos of my own from that era.
Look at those beaming faces on the PICO team! I can;t help grinning just looking at them.
It *felt* so different back then compared to now. Like Communicore for example. It was so inviting with nice natural lighting and was so optimistic. I was shocked when the company started claiming EPCOT Center was boring. I loved it.
What a great photo of the old PICO team. I recognized several faces!
Thanks for posting!
I remember wearing one of the polyester monstrosity costumes similar to the ones posted when I worked for a few weeks at the Stargate restaurant at EPCOT in 1992 whilst working as a Cultural Representative at the Rose & Crown. It was really itchy and uncomfortable and made of thick material. Very funny to see them on here.
And loving the old pictures of EPCOT. Some of the changes were subtle, but so many really altered the feeling of the park.
I pretty much preferred the original Illuminations and still do. It brought a bit of focus to each one of the participant countries, and as a Brit working in EPCOT, it made me proud to hear Rule Brittania being bellowed out each night across the Lagoon.
So cool! I really want to find our family photos from our first Disney trip about 6 months after Epcot opened. DD9 and I watched videos of Horizons and World of Motion just yesterday.
