Vintage Disneyland Home Movies- Meeting Walt Disney Himself
Posted by Admin
This is great. Meeting Walt Disney- caught on a home movie!
Home Movies At DisneyLand - 1956 from Jeff Altman on Vimeo.
Shot by this guy's grandfather on his Bell & Howell Filmo using 16mm Kodachrome film stock. This footage was taken in 1956, a year after the park opened.
He says, "It was quite a surprise going through this and seeing my grandmother meeting Walt Disney himself! I've been doing my best to find out what they were shooting at the front of the park. So far I've been unsuccessful." -Jeff Altman

The footage is so clear. Incredible find.
What quality footage! Looks like a professional crew produced it. Fun music too.
Wow it sure is true what they say about the colors of Kodachrome film! And the picture is so sharp beacuse they knew how to focus, and that this is 16mm film and not 8mm. 16mm is more then double the resolution then 8mm. Great find very rare thing to see. Not too many people were shooting home movies in 16mm, very expensive stuff for the average family at the time. The colors are breathtaking!
This is just fantastic.
I agree GREAT footage esp the clarity
In terms of what Walt might have been filming...
He did alot of TV shows about the Park to be seen on ABC during that time :)
I am posting this on my blog DIZNELUVER'S WORLD (www.dizneluver.wordpress.com)
Thats some real good quality you got there bud. Awh! I wish I could hear what Walt was saying! :)
This is nothing short of amazing! Thank you so much for sharing it with the world... Kudo's to whomever took a 16MM camera to Disneyland and struck gold with this movie.
It is very unusual to see the Ol' Mousetro filming at the park. Most of the cut-ins for the TV show were faked. I don't know what the process was, but it is what we might now call green-screen. I'm sure audiences at the time thought he was in Anaheim rather than Burbank.
